Teaser Tuesday - 30 March

Teaser Tuesday

The rules are:
  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) 'teaser' sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title and author of the book that you’re getting your 'teaser' from .. that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you've given!
She hoed, but she was hoeing mechanically now. Twice she caught herself about to decapitate a potato.
I'm still with Hans Fallada's Alone in Berlin (published in the US as 'Every Man Dies Alone') which I teased from two weeks back. This quote comes from a brief (and very welcome) pastoral interlude before the darkness closes in.

I've been hearing a lot about this one - lots of praise. Think it's just too intense for me. Great teaser, though!
Here's mine.

My teaser is from a fun book that intertwines golf and spirituality, "Straight Down the Middle" by Josh Karp. If you're just a golfer, it might make you curious about spirituality. If you're a seeker, it might make you curious about golf -- at least you'll find greater enjoyment on the course!

Here's the teaser:
"When I tell them I’m a writer doing a book about golf and spirituality, writing a chapter about playing with John, they smile and laugh, as if it’s the most normal thing in the world that someone is there to write about John.
What is remarkable about John is how his being an abbot and pursuing a very nontraditional means of spirituality, par- ticularly in suburban New Jersey, is not something freaky to two very normal guys who know him. "

Go on, I'll go for this...
It could be any one of three books I'm reading, but I'll go for "Early Christian Doctrines" by JND Kelly. And it's over here.
