I think I lived in the room with the slightly open window on the first floor. Wychfield was owned by Francis Darwin - probably the wrong Darwin to be commemorating today but he did do a lot to make his father better known. Note the croquet lawn!

Hi there,
I'm currently a student at Trinity Hall, and plan to give a talk about the history of Wychfield in the near future. It was nice to see your picture of Wychfield from the 70s on your blog, and I wonder- do you have any photos taken from/looking out of the front of the house? I believe there used to be a big beech tree which was removed to build some accommodation in the 90s, and would be interested to see what the place looked like!
I'll have a look through the relevant slides but, from memory, I think you may be out of luck! Thanks for stopping by - I'll place another comment here when I have further information! I'm still in touch with someone who also lived there and was a photographer, I'll ask around.
I have some more of the back - mainly the garden from a few angles - but I'm afraid I have none of the front. I'll scan what I have in at the weekend and put them on my flickr pages.

Best wishes,

I remember the tree though!
That'd be great- the college archives are pretty photo-lite!

Now updated I'm afraid the focus was on the croquet participants rather than anything else...
